Why DevLys text looks like English letters
DevLys is a legacy font. Your file stores ordinary Latin letters, and the font draws Devanagari shapes over them. When the font is missing, as on most phones, in emails, on websites and in Google Docs, you only see the letters underneath.
Unicode stores the real Devanagari characters instead. The text looks the same on every device, can be searched, and can be copied anywhere.
